Barbara Howe was an instructor at the University of South Florida from 2022-2025. She previously worked in political communications and managed communications campaigns on immigration and labor rights, healthcare policy, international affairs and federal budget issues.
Barb’s two areas of academic specialty are international relations and political theory. Her research interests include democratic backsliding, rising authoritarianism, and the role of political communication and information technologies in both of those.
During the fall semester 2024, Barb taught an advanced political theory course for poli-sci majors called Democracy and Propaganda. The video below is an introduction to it.
