Teaching

I’m an instructor at the University of South Florida, also a writer and former communications specialist who has worked on immigration and labor rights, healthcare policy, international affairs and federal budget issues.

Here’s my YouTube channel with short videos explaining various concepts in International Relations (IR).

My areas of research interest include democratic backsliding, rising authoritarianism, and the role of political communication and information technology in both of those. I am also interested in the related phenomena of populism, polarization and political extremism.

Most recently, I have taught INR 2002: Introduction to International Relations.  After spending the first two-thirds of the semester on history and the main theoretical approaches to the field, the final section of the course is dedicated to various global issues. Here is my curriculum vita and below is a short video clip of me teaching a class on the topic of climate change.
